Baby Tales: 25 weeks

I'm just about 25 weeks and our little guy is definitely starting to grow quickly!  I compared pictures from just a week ago and can see a huge difference.  We took advantage of the long weekend and painted his room finally.  I'll have to take some pictures with the real camera when it's done.  We went with a tan/beige color on the top of the walls and blue on the bottom.  We plan to put a piece of molding in between the two colors, but it's not quite there yet.  We have also ordered his crib and that should be here in about a month or so.  Shower invitations have gone out and I only have 9 more weeks of work!  How does it happen so quickly??

I'm still feeling really good, but I think going back to work has made me realize that the tiredness of the third trimester is here.  I am exhausted when I get home!

*almost* 25 weeks

Catch up of the Last 10 weeks...

So much has happened since 14 weeks!  I'm so excited to share with you!!!

{19 weeks}

Mr. G and I also celebrated our 1st anniversary with a trip to Pismo Beach, San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara.

 {the view from our room}
 {yes, we ate the cake...it wasn't very good}

Once we got back from our trip it was time for the big ultrasound to find out the gender!  It's a good thing we had the trip to preoccupy my mind because the suspense was KILLING me!

{the money shot...IT'S A BOY!}

Don't even get me started on how excited Mr. G and my dad are!  I come from a family of all girls and as soon as my dad heard the news he started jumping up and down and screaming and yelling!  We did a big reveal dinner at our house on the evening after the ultrasound.  I got 2 balloons, 1 pink and 1 blue.  I had each grandma choose which balloon she wanted to pop and they both popped at the same time.  Each balloon had a paper inside that said "IT'S A BOY" so they both found out at the same time.  So much fun!  I'm glad we choose to keep it a secret until the whole family was together.  We didn't announce the pregnancy that way, but I had always wished we did.  This was a nice way to have everyone find out at the same time.

Finally, school has started for both Mr. G and myself and with the start of school comes the start of football season!  Life is quite busy right now, but I'm holding down the fort while Mr. G spends his days (and evenings) with the football team.

I'm just over 23 weeks now and I feel like time is flying by.  I can't believe I'm over the half way point and that our little one will be here so soon.  I'm definitely looking pregnant these days, but still feeling really good.  I'm feeling him kicking several times a day and it is such a weird but awesome feeling.  Mr. G has felt him a few times, but nothing too strong yet.  I still have days of feeling completely in shock that I have a person growing inside of me, but it's very real these days and I get more and more excited every day.  I can't wait to meet our little guy!
{22 weeks}

How long gone?

Man...it's been awhile!  Lots has happened since I last blogged.  School started for both Mr. G and myself and of course once school starts...football starts!  Tomorrow begins the 3rd week of school and I'm really enjoying being back in my classroom with my kiddies (I have SUCH a good class this year), but it's so strange to me that I only have 12 weeks of work left before the time comes to go on maternity leave.  I'll be taking a good chunk of time off and it feels so strange to know that I won't be there for the entire school year.  Of course, my own child is more important and will always be more important, but it is such a bizarre feeling that I can't explain.  Hopefully I can get back to a normal posting routine!

Baby Tales: 14 Weeks

Overall Feeling:  The past two weeks have brought the aches and pains in full force.  Growing pains in my belly, aches in my back, and pains in my neck...yikes!  I haven't been sleeping very well so I dragged Mr. G out to Babies 'R Us to find the Snoogle.  Now, what is a "Snoogle" you ask...well...it's only the mother of all pregnancy pillows (says so on the package!)!  It looks something like this...

Yes, I realize it looks like an alien of sorts, but let me assure you that it is indeed the "mother of all pregnancy pillows!"  Mr. G about passed out when he saw how much it was and he keeps telling me that I owe him a "snoogle" (and not the pillow kind of snoogle either...) now, but you know what?  I don't care...the pillow is amazing and worth every.single.penny!

Food Cravings/Aversions:  Still not craving anything although I'm still loving watermelon and strawberries.  I've actually lost some weight (weird right??) since before I got pregnant so I'm trying my best to make sure I get my daily calories.  The doctor didn't seem too worried about my losing some pounds right now, but she did say that if it keeps happening then she would be worried.  I've been keeping a close eye on it and...of course I haven't felt guilty about having a chocolate chip cookie from Starbucks every now and then!

Highlight(s) of the week:  I'm finally feeling like I'm starting to look pregnant!  I went out and bought a few new shirts, but so far I've been able to wear my own clothes still.  I know it's just a matter of time before I have to go buy new pants and shorts!

Baby Tales #5: Week 12

Overall Feelings:  Good!  I've been feeling really good for the past week or so, definitely not sick anymore, my appetite has returned and I haven't been nearly as tired...yay!  Now, don't let that fool you...I've still been taking my daily nap...it is summer vacation after all!

Food Cravings/Aversions:  Chocolate milkshakes!!!  I had to go buy plain chocolate ice cream so I could have one of these the other night.  I've also been loving all the summer fruits that are in the grocery stores finally...watermelon, strawberries, nectarines...oh my!  No aversions to food anymore although I feel like my taste buds have changed.  Funny story...I was making egg salad yesterday and grabbed what I thought was celery salt.  Turns out it was really cinnamon/sugar that I put in my eggs...eww.  Maybe I should read the labels instead of just relying on the color.  Don't worry, I smelled it right as I shook it out of the can and was able to salvage the egg salad!

Highlight(s) of the Week:  Since Mr. G has been out of town, he's been sending all kinds of messages to me, especially asking about the baby.  It made me smile to know that he's thinking about both of us. :-)

This week's picture...coincidentally, I happen to be wearing the same outfit...don't judge me...and don't judge the bad iPhone picture either!
I think I spy a little belly there!

Baby Tales #4: Weeks 10/11

Overall Feelings: Over the last week or so I've been starting to feel better.  I'm not as tired and not quite as nauseous.  I don't want to jinx myself but, I think we might be on the home stretch toward the 2nd trimester!  School is out this week and I absolutely cannot wait to sleep in and lounge on the couch!

Food Cravings/Aversions: No serious cravings still, but I'm more open to all foods again.  I have been starting to cook dinner again and meat doesn't disgust me...yay!  (Don't tell my husband yet though...haha) Cooking dinner might also have something to do with the fact that I'm pretty much done with work and don't have anything else to worry about.

Highlight(s) of the Week: Have I already mentioned that school is out?!?  Ok ok...moving on...we had our second appointment with the doctor at the end of week 10.  We got to see our little bean and it actually looks like a baby now!  That was really cool and of course I cried.  Little bean was moving around and waving his arms as if to say "Hi Mom and Dad!".  So so cool!  Again, everything looks great and little bean is about 4 centimeters long at this point. We left from the doctor and heading straight to spend the weekend with Mr. G's best friend from college and his wife along with many other friends.  We knew it was only a matter of time before they realized something was up.  And sure enough...as soon as someone offered me a beer and I passed, I got the side eye look and then a huge grin.  They were very excited and we had a great weekend!

People have been asking if I have a feeling about the gender and yes, all along I have thought that little bean is a boy.  I'm sure (s)he's a girl though just to prove me wrong!  Mr. G and I have a boy's name picked out, but we haven't begun to talk about girl's names.  Maybe we won't need a girl's name...we'll find out in the beginning of August.  I can't wait for that moment!
