Baby Tales: 25 weeks

I'm just about 25 weeks and our little guy is definitely starting to grow quickly!  I compared pictures from just a week ago and can see a huge difference.  We took advantage of the long weekend and painted his room finally.  I'll have to take some pictures with the real camera when it's done.  We went with a tan/beige color on the top of the walls and blue on the bottom.  We plan to put a piece of molding in between the two colors, but it's not quite there yet.  We have also ordered his crib and that should be here in about a month or so.  Shower invitations have gone out and I only have 9 more weeks of work!  How does it happen so quickly??

I'm still feeling really good, but I think going back to work has made me realize that the tiredness of the third trimester is here.  I am exhausted when I get home!

*almost* 25 weeks

Catch up of the Last 10 weeks...

So much has happened since 14 weeks!  I'm so excited to share with you!!!

{19 weeks}

Mr. G and I also celebrated our 1st anniversary with a trip to Pismo Beach, San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara.

 {the view from our room}
 {yes, we ate the cake...it wasn't very good}

Once we got back from our trip it was time for the big ultrasound to find out the gender!  It's a good thing we had the trip to preoccupy my mind because the suspense was KILLING me!

{the money shot...IT'S A BOY!}

Don't even get me started on how excited Mr. G and my dad are!  I come from a family of all girls and as soon as my dad heard the news he started jumping up and down and screaming and yelling!  We did a big reveal dinner at our house on the evening after the ultrasound.  I got 2 balloons, 1 pink and 1 blue.  I had each grandma choose which balloon she wanted to pop and they both popped at the same time.  Each balloon had a paper inside that said "IT'S A BOY" so they both found out at the same time.  So much fun!  I'm glad we choose to keep it a secret until the whole family was together.  We didn't announce the pregnancy that way, but I had always wished we did.  This was a nice way to have everyone find out at the same time.

Finally, school has started for both Mr. G and myself and with the start of school comes the start of football season!  Life is quite busy right now, but I'm holding down the fort while Mr. G spends his days (and evenings) with the football team.

I'm just over 23 weeks now and I feel like time is flying by.  I can't believe I'm over the half way point and that our little one will be here so soon.  I'm definitely looking pregnant these days, but still feeling really good.  I'm feeling him kicking several times a day and it is such a weird but awesome feeling.  Mr. G has felt him a few times, but nothing too strong yet.  I still have days of feeling completely in shock that I have a person growing inside of me, but it's very real these days and I get more and more excited every day.  I can't wait to meet our little guy!
{22 weeks}

How long gone?

Man...it's been awhile!  Lots has happened since I last blogged.  School started for both Mr. G and myself and of course once school starts...football starts!  Tomorrow begins the 3rd week of school and I'm really enjoying being back in my classroom with my kiddies (I have SUCH a good class this year), but it's so strange to me that I only have 12 weeks of work left before the time comes to go on maternity leave.  I'll be taking a good chunk of time off and it feels so strange to know that I won't be there for the entire school year.  Of course, my own child is more important and will always be more important, but it is such a bizarre feeling that I can't explain.  Hopefully I can get back to a normal posting routine!

Baby Tales: 14 Weeks

Overall Feeling:  The past two weeks have brought the aches and pains in full force.  Growing pains in my belly, aches in my back, and pains in my neck...yikes!  I haven't been sleeping very well so I dragged Mr. G out to Babies 'R Us to find the Snoogle.  Now, what is a "Snoogle" you ask...well...it's only the mother of all pregnancy pillows (says so on the package!)!  It looks something like this...

Yes, I realize it looks like an alien of sorts, but let me assure you that it is indeed the "mother of all pregnancy pillows!"  Mr. G about passed out when he saw how much it was and he keeps telling me that I owe him a "snoogle" (and not the pillow kind of snoogle either...) now, but you know what?  I don't care...the pillow is amazing and worth every.single.penny!

Food Cravings/Aversions:  Still not craving anything although I'm still loving watermelon and strawberries.  I've actually lost some weight (weird right??) since before I got pregnant so I'm trying my best to make sure I get my daily calories.  The doctor didn't seem too worried about my losing some pounds right now, but she did say that if it keeps happening then she would be worried.  I've been keeping a close eye on it and...of course I haven't felt guilty about having a chocolate chip cookie from Starbucks every now and then!

Highlight(s) of the week:  I'm finally feeling like I'm starting to look pregnant!  I went out and bought a few new shirts, but so far I've been able to wear my own clothes still.  I know it's just a matter of time before I have to go buy new pants and shorts!

Baby Tales #5: Week 12

Overall Feelings:  Good!  I've been feeling really good for the past week or so, definitely not sick anymore, my appetite has returned and I haven't been nearly as tired...yay!  Now, don't let that fool you...I've still been taking my daily nap...it is summer vacation after all!

Food Cravings/Aversions:  Chocolate milkshakes!!!  I had to go buy plain chocolate ice cream so I could have one of these the other night.  I've also been loving all the summer fruits that are in the grocery stores finally...watermelon, strawberries, nectarines...oh my!  No aversions to food anymore although I feel like my taste buds have changed.  Funny story...I was making egg salad yesterday and grabbed what I thought was celery salt.  Turns out it was really cinnamon/sugar that I put in my eggs...eww.  Maybe I should read the labels instead of just relying on the color.  Don't worry, I smelled it right as I shook it out of the can and was able to salvage the egg salad!

Highlight(s) of the Week:  Since Mr. G has been out of town, he's been sending all kinds of messages to me, especially asking about the baby.  It made me smile to know that he's thinking about both of us. :-)

This week's picture...coincidentally, I happen to be wearing the same outfit...don't judge me...and don't judge the bad iPhone picture either!
I think I spy a little belly there!

Baby Tales #4: Weeks 10/11

Overall Feelings: Over the last week or so I've been starting to feel better.  I'm not as tired and not quite as nauseous.  I don't want to jinx myself but, I think we might be on the home stretch toward the 2nd trimester!  School is out this week and I absolutely cannot wait to sleep in and lounge on the couch!

Food Cravings/Aversions: No serious cravings still, but I'm more open to all foods again.  I have been starting to cook dinner again and meat doesn't disgust me...yay!  (Don't tell my husband yet though...haha) Cooking dinner might also have something to do with the fact that I'm pretty much done with work and don't have anything else to worry about.

Highlight(s) of the Week: Have I already mentioned that school is out?!?  Ok ok...moving on...we had our second appointment with the doctor at the end of week 10.  We got to see our little bean and it actually looks like a baby now!  That was really cool and of course I cried.  Little bean was moving around and waving his arms as if to say "Hi Mom and Dad!".  So so cool!  Again, everything looks great and little bean is about 4 centimeters long at this point. We left from the doctor and heading straight to spend the weekend with Mr. G's best friend from college and his wife along with many other friends.  We knew it was only a matter of time before they realized something was up.  And sure enough...as soon as someone offered me a beer and I passed, I got the side eye look and then a huge grin.  They were very excited and we had a great weekend!

People have been asking if I have a feeling about the gender and yes, all along I have thought that little bean is a boy.  I'm sure (s)he's a girl though just to prove me wrong!  Mr. G and I have a boy's name picked out, but we haven't begun to talk about girl's names.  Maybe we won't need a girl's name...we'll find out in the beginning of August.  I can't wait for that moment!

Babies Galore!

There are a number of my friends who are pregnant or just had a baby right now, not to mention some of my blogger friends who are pregnant as well!  With babies, come baby showers and I am helping to host a baby shower for my oldest friend and Maid of Honor today!  She's due the beginning of August and I am so excited for her shower and of course her new little girl, Reese!

I've been hard at work this week making favors and cupcakes.  I'll let the pictures do the talking!

Favors: Reese's pieces and mini Reese's cups inside

Baby Cakes {chocolate with purple buttercream}

More baby cakes {coconut with coconut buttercream}

Baby Tales #3: Week 8/9

I'm combining these two weeks because there isn't really a difference in what was happening

Overall Feeling: Sick and tired...well...most of the time.  I seem to be OK in the mornings and am able to drag myself out of bed to make it to work, but as soon as I get home, it's right to the couch...and sometimes the toilet!  I even took a few days off work during these weeks just so I could stay in bed...shhh don't tell my boss!  I think it started to set in this week that there really is something inside me and that feels really weird to me. I'm not sure how to explain it except that it's very weird! Don't you like my technical explanations??

Food Cravings/Aversions:  Still can't stomach meat or Mexican food.  And since my morning sickness is the worst at night, I haven't been cooking dinner for Mr. G.  I've been living on granola bars, cereal, crackers and pasta.  Plain, plain, plain!

Highlight(s) of the Week:  No major highlights or milestones, but a few more people have started to ask and I don't want to lie so I've told them.  It's just too darn exciting!  Mr. G's football team had their big fundraiser dinner at about week 9.  This is an adult only event and is usually a huge party...I obviously don't get to partake this year and of course people were going to ask.  We had decided before the party that we would tell people.  The news is starting to get out there!

I miss my morning coffee and the occasional beer or glass of wine.  I've taken to calling Mr. G "the caffeine Nazi" because he won't let me have ANYTHING!  I keep trying to show him all the research that says a little bit is perfectly OK, but he's not having it.  I guess this is a battle we'll have to ask the doctor about.

Sorry no picture this week, but we're almost caught up!

Baby Tales #2: 7 weeks

Overall feeling: I've been suuuper tired and a bit nauseous.  It's been really hard to get up and get to work, especially because it's the end of the school year and everything is so busy.  I got some ginger chews from Trader Joe's that seem to be working for the nausea.  Other than that, I've been eating small meals all day...and cereal for dinner.  The evenings are the worst.  Poor Mr. G has been on his own for dinner for a few weeks now and I can't see any end in sight.  I haven't been sleeping well either.  I wake up a few times to go to the bathroom and can't ever get myself back to sleep.  I think it might be time for me to steal Mr. G's body pillow!  It has been REALLY hard not to tell other people and I admit that I've told a few at work and a few friends, but I can't help it!

Food cravings/aversions: I wouldn't  say I've had any cravings, but I do enjoy some Taco Bell bean burritos!  I'm really disgusted by chicken and other meat and Mexican food.  Just the thought....ugh!

Highlight(s) of the week: We told our parents on Mother's Day and it was so much fun!  Mr. G's mom had no idea and was completely shocked...too bad they had chosen to go to a Mexican restaurant for dinner and the only thing I ate was rice and beans :-(  My mom cried and my dad calls every day now...just to check in.  We also went to the doctor for the first time!  We got to see our little peanut and a tiny flickering heartbeat.  I think that was better than telling our parents!  We couldn't hear anything yet, but we did get to see it and the doctor said everything looks great for now.  My due date is officially Christmas day, although the doctor thinks I'm a few days behind based on my cycle.

No baby bump yet...but here's a few (with our new camera!) to get you started.

Baby Tales #1: The day we found out 4/20/10

I had been feeling suuuuper tired (among other things and are just TMI for this kind of thing) for a few days.  On Monday, April 19, I was so tired I went to bed at 6:00 PM and Mr. G thought I was sick...little did he know!  I slept for 12 hours and woke up in the morning still exhausted, but I dragged myself to work.  I barely made it through work and couldn't get myself home fast enough.

As I was sitting on the couch, it sort of hit me that aunt flo hadn't shown up yet and she was due 2 days ago.  Hmm...I'd been keeping really close track of my cycles so I knew pretty much to the day when she was supposed to arrive.  Naturally, my mind started wandering to the pregnancy test that was sitting in the drawer in the bathroom.  But no...that couldn't be it and besides Mr. G wasn't home yet!

Mr. G got home, we ate dinner and he asked how I was feeling.  I told him I was still exhausted and that I thought I could possibly...just maybe...be pregnant.  "Bust out that test!" he says.  Umm...are you sure??  Do you realllly think I could be...do you really want to know NOW???  YES!

So we did and...the rest is history.  We were a shocked, excited, scared, crying mess!  I wish we had taken more pictures that night, but both of our cameras were broken and all we had were the iPhones...  I think we were also scared to document anything for fear someone might find out! Don't worry...we've since bought a new camera!

Here's the only one from the night:

The news is out...

I've been gone for a looong time, but I felt like I didn't have anything to write about that would interest you.  Well...I think I've become a little more interesting these days...

So if you haven't already heard...I'm pregnant!  Whoo hoo!  We are so very excited and cannot wait until December when our little one will arrive.  As of right now, we are due on Christmas Day...poor kid!  As soon as we found out I made my husband promise that we'll never do that whole combine gifts thing.  Haha...then I made our families promise that also!  Maybe we'll just celelbrate in June and have an "un-birthday" party!  We just started to tell people and I am about 11 1/2 weeks today, but don't worry...I plan to go "back in time" and fill you in on the week by week from the beginning!  Stay tuned for the baby chronicles...
